Our Story
MyCeliated Wellness founder, Celia Osorno BSN, RN, MH, has a vast background of serving individuals and communities in a variety of roles. While her entrepreneurial spirit started at a very young age when she would bake and sell her own dog treats and gather her neighborhood friends to have lemonade sales for fun, her more formal roles of service started as an exploration to find her core purpose. After Celia obtained a bachelor’s in psychology from UW-Milwaukee, she was in a space of unknown when a friend suggested she volunteer at Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center, a respite home for 11-17 year olds experiencing family conflict or homelessness.
This experience opened up a new world of service for Celia and by the end of that year she accepted the role of AmeriCorps volunteer for the shelter. After her year of service, Celia began working for Outreach Community Health Centers in Milwaukee as a homeless outreach worker. In this role, Celia was able to engage with clients where they were at, connect with them, and work with them to meet their needs. The clients she served were unable to work with longer term case managers for a variety of reasons, or were more transient and their needs were more immediate. During this time, Celia met two nurses, one who worked at the shelters and meal sites and another was a police officer. It was truly inspiring to see someone be able to serve their community on a deeper level and this experience is one of the foundational times that brought Celia to nursing and to the creation of MyCeliated Wellness. Celia knows that the extra time, care and effort can make a world of difference in someone’s life and our healthcare system doesn’t always allow for that.
Celia became a nurse in 2019 after attending the Bellin College of Nursing 15 month program. Her last day of training was the first day COVID had really come to her hospital and this was when her eyes were even more opened to the health reality many people face due to chronic disease, stress, and lack of access to health education, healthy food, and movement practices. She has spent the last three years caring for patients of all walks of life and with all different types of health conditions in her role as an acute care float nurse working in cardiac, neuro, ortho, surgical, medical, ICU, rehab. and home health environments. One major takeaway she is seeing when it comes to individuals with chronic health diseases, is that there is a better way to care for and even prevent certain illnesses, but the community is not receiving the support it needs.
The above mentioned ten years of diverse experiences in services, care management, social services, and nursing is what makes Celia such a uniquely qualified individual to step up and serve her community through the role of concierge nursing. She knows the real life challenges that make managing health and wellness even more difficult. When people are left with just information or referrals, they cannot always succeed to their highest potential. By going on the journey with her client’s, Celia believes that better resiliency skills can be developed and better health outcomes can be achieved.
